U.S. Fulbright Officials Visit English Teaching Assistants in Terengganu Including IMTIAZ Kuala Berang

On July 17^th, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Academic Programs Alina Romanowski and East Asia and Pacific Fulbright Programs Brach Chief Matthew McMahon visited the Fulbright English Teaching Assistants {ETAs} located in Terengganu. Ms. Romanowski met with four young American ETAs who are serving a 10 month assistantships in local secondary schools. The group also met with State of Terengganu officials, teachers and students to explore ways to further intensify the partnership between the U.S. Embassy and the State of Terengganu in expanding opportunities for English language teaching and learning in local schools.

During visits to two schools, IMTIAZ Kuala Berang and Sekolah Menengah Agama Zainal Abidin, Romanowski met with administrators, teachers and students. At IMTIAZ Kuala Berang she led a classroom discussion with ETA Ranjan Hatch about U.S. society, culture and values. Together they encouraged students to support their visiting U.S. Fulbright ETAs and to study hard, so they could possibly participate in future high school exchange programs or even join over 6,000 Malaysians currently studying in the U.S. Romanowski suggested they visit the Education Advising Centers at the Malaysian American Commission on Education Exchange for more information on Study in the USA.

After the classroom discussion came to a close, Hatch and Romanowski had a chance to discuss the positive benefits the Fulbright ETA program has on Terengganu schools, staff, faculty and students. Both came to the conclusion that the Fulbright ETA program in Malaysia goes beyond improving the English language acquisition of students, it continues to be highly effective in creating a mutual understanding between cultures.

IMTIAZ Kuala Berang telah muncul sebagai johan Pertandingan Kebersihan dan Keceriaan antara Sekolah- Sekolah IMTIAZ Negeri Terengganu yang telah berlangsung pada bulan Jun hingga Ogos 2010 baru-baru ini. Kemenangan ini menyebabkan IMTIAZ Kuala Berang menerima cek dan bintang. Selain itu, Dewan Makan Asrama SM IMTIAZ KUaa Berang juga turut menjadi johan peringkat Daerah Hulu Terengganu. Tahniah dan teruskan kejayaan pada pertandingan akan datang.

Persatuan Kadet Bomba SM IMTIAZ Yayasan Terengganu telah menyertai perkhemahan kadet bomba peringkat daerah Hulu Terengganu bertempat di Pusat Kokurikulum SK Menerong pada 4 hingga 7 Mei 2010 yang lalu. SM IMTIAZ Kuala Berang telah memenangi beberapa pertandingan seperti Kawad Hos Kering, Bahagian Kesegaran Terbaik dan guru Kesegaran Terbaik
